Tracy Maurice is a visual artist and filmmaker known for her crafted multidisciplinary worlds that include photography, film/video, sculpture, and installation.
Her practice explores the intersection of analog craftsmanship and digital media. She delves into themes of temporality, mythology, dream states, and our connection to the natural world. Drawing on a background in Art History, she often incorporates influences from early cinema and science into her work to create distinct visual narratives.
Maurice first gained recognition as the creative director for the band Arcade Fire, designing iconic album artwork and directing video projects for the albums, Neon Bible and Funeral, including the groundbreaking interactive music video Black Mirror.
Her work has been exhibited internationally at the 11th Berlin Biennale (in collaboration with Dana Michel), Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal, HAM Helsinki Art Museum, ANTI – Contemporary Art Festival (Helsinki), and Lincoln Center (New York). She has given talks at Pennsylvania College of Art & Design, Berklee College of Music, and HFBK University of Fine Arts Hamburg. She taught filmmaking at the IDFA Film Academy Summer Program (UC Berkeley), and participated in artist residencies at RU (New York) and SÍM (Reykjavik).
A former New York resident, she now lives and works in Montréal.
